These two channel videos contrast the Natural world and the Human world/Urban life on the subject of Galaxias, a critically endangered animal listed in the EPBC Act. The first part compares water in Rintoul Creek in Gippsland where Galaxias live and the Yarra River near Princes Bridge Melbourne. The second part consists of three urban elements in rapid motion in contrast with the slow movement of Rintoul Creek blended with bushfire images. The three urban footages conceptualise global warming resulting from excess energy and food consumption, which impacts the vulnerable ecosystem. The last part is my performance which depicts a human who became a salmon and a predator of Galaxias. It takes a cleansing Shinto (Indigenous Japanese religion) ritual as atonement in contrast to the playful dance inviting viewers to engage in this distressful subject. Shinto, which is my cultural background, has two styles of rituals, solemn and playful, as seen in my performances.
