Extinct Australian Animals

 For our Extinct Australian Animals

I feel privileged to live in the culturally and environmentally rich country protected by Aboriginies more than 50,000 years, which I respect thoroughly. I have discovered many Australian animals which I have never seen in Northern Hemispheres where I was born and lived upon my arrival in Australia.

“Plants and animals are totems for Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal Peoples share the land with them their relationship is fundamental to the continued practice, and cultural responsibility -  for food, health, shelter, cultural expression and spiritual wellbeing. “[1] This cite reflected myself the contestation of human domination in today’s capitalism world and also reminds me of my family cultural and spiritual practice in Shinto and Buddhist. Shinto levels our nature and environment at the same stage as human being and Buddhist respect all the creatures which have life. They teach the happiness come with harmonious life with all the creatures in the planet, which is same philosophy as Aboriginie’s. My practices has almost erased before my arrival in Australia and all the beautiful Australian friends and Aboriginie philosophy recalled them. I believe that the happiness of human being come along with our live surroundings.

After the European arrival, 39 mammals, 22 birds, 4 frogs and 1 reptile have been extinct.

Following Aboriginie, Shinto and Buddhist philosophies, I would like to recall the co-habitation with non-human creatures through my artwork, which I hope would be a tiny compensation for our 67 extinct animals with my respect.
